Czym właściwie jest gramatura papieru?
To bardzo ważny parametr, gdyż informuje nas o jakości papieru. Mówi o gęstości, grubości, sztywności jednego arkusza papieru.  Jest stosunkiem masy papieru do powierzchni jaką zajmuje, a jednostką jest g/m2.

Co to oznacza w praktyce? To proste: im wyższa gramatura, tym arkusz papieru jest cięższy i grubszy, a przez to sztywniejszy.

What exactly is paper density?
This is a very important parameter because it informs us about the quality of the paper. It is defined as the ratio of mass to surface area, it’s unit is grams per square meter (g/m2). What does this mean in practice? It's simple: the higher the grammage, the heavier and thicker the sheet of paper, and therefore the stiffer it is.

Jakie są najpopularniejsze gramatury papierów do scrapbookingu?
Najpopularniejsze gramatury papierów do scrapbookingu wahają się w zakresie od 190 g/m2, do 250 g/m2. Producenci papierów takich jak Mintaypapers, P13 Paperproducts, Lemoncraft, Prima Marketing używają gramatur 240 g/m2 oraz 250 g/m2. Zoju ma w swojej ofercie papiery o gramaturze 190 g/m2 oraz 250 g/m2. Natomiast Stamperia czy Scrapboys – 190 g/m2. Osobiście lubię grubsze papiery, jednak chętnie sięgam również po kolekcje Stamperii, mimo iż są wyczuwalnie cieńsze. Muszę tylko pamiętać żeby papier przyklejać taśmą, z naprawdę cienką warstwą kleju.
Natomiast arkusze z elementami do wycinania posiadają zazwyczaj gramaturę 250 g/m2. To dla mnie istotne by były sztywne, ponieważ elementy często podklejam na kosteczkach dystansowych lub wykorzystuję w kartkach typu pop up, gdzie są doklejone do przezroczystej foli tworząc ruchome elementy i muszą trzymać się pionowo w kartce.

What are the most popular papers density of scrapbooking papers?
The most popular papers density of scrapbooking papers range from 190 g/m2 to 250 g/m2. Paper manufacturers such as Mintaypapers, P13paperproducts Lemoncraft, Prima Marketing use grammages of 240 g/m2 and 250 g/m2. Zoju offers 190 g/m2 and 250 g/m2 papers. Whereas Stamperia or Scrapboys - 190 g/m2. Personally, I like thicker papers, but I also like Stamperia collections, even though they are thinner, which is noticeable. I just have to remember to stick the paper on tape, with a really thin layer of glue. On the other hand, sheets with cutting elements usually have a grammage of 250 g/m2. It is important for me that they are rigid, because I often stick the elements on spacers or use them in pop-up cards, where they are glued to a transparent foil, creating movable elements and they must stick vertically in the card.

Papiery o takich gramaturach (190-250 g/m2) idealnie sprawdzą się do wykonania kartek, boxów, oklejenia stron albumów. Można wyciąć z nich również elementy wykrojnikiem, dziurkaczem lub podkleić je na beermatę czy kosteczki dystansowe. Dzięki temu że papier jest wystarczająco sztywny nie będzie się nieładnie wyginał. Papiery grubsze świetnie sprawdzą się w mix-mediach. Nie zniszczą się nawet gdy użyjemy gesso, nałożymy na nie farbę strukturalną czy spryskamy mgiełką. Są też papiery o gramaturze 300 g/m2. Z nich zwykle tworzy się bazy na kartki czy pudełka.

Papers with such density (190-250 g/m2) are ideal for making cards, boxes, covering album pages. You can also cut out elements from them with a die, punch or stick them on a beermat or spacer cubes. Due to the fact that the paper is stiff enough, it will not bend unsightly. Thicker papers are great for mix-media. They will not tore even when we use gesso, apply structural paint on them or spray with mist. There are also papers with a density of 300 g/m2. They are usually used to create bases for cards, boxes.

Beermata 

Beermata to papier introligatorski, rodzaj tektury w kolorze jasnego ecru. Ma ona bardzo wysoka gramaturę – nawet 500g/m2. Ze względu na swoją grubość idealnie nadaje się do tworzenia baz albumów. Ciężko ją zgiąć, a konstrukcja z niej wykonana jest stabilna i wytrzymała.

Beermat
Beermat is a bookbinding paper, a type of light ecru cardboard. It has a very high grammage - even 500g/m2. Due to its thickness, it is ideal for creating album bases. It is hard to bend, and the structure made of it is stable and durable.

Papier welinowy
Papier welinowy to nic innego jak kalka kreatywna. Od zwykłej kalki technicznej różni się jednak tym, że jest cieńszy i zawiera nadruki. Znajdziecie go w ofercie między innymi PrimaMarketing. Vellum paper
Vellum paper is nothing more than creative tracing paper. However, it differs from ordinary tracing paper in that it is thinner and contains prints. Papier lustrzany i papier brokatowy
Papier lustrzany posiada gramaturę 270-300 g/m2, brokatowy natomiast 200-300 g/m2 w zależności od producenta. Należą do papierów dekoracyjnych. Są bardzo ozdobne.

Mirror paper and glitter paper
Mirror paper has a density of 270-300 g/m2, glitter paper 200-300 g/m2 depending on the manufacturer. They belong to decorative papers. They are very decorative.

Papier Yupo
Ten rodzaj papieru jest szczególnie polecany do pracy z  akwarelami, tuszami alkoholowymi, tuszem, pastelami olejnymi czy kredkami. Gramatura tych papierów waha się od 150-390 g/m2.

Yupo paper
This type of paper is especially recommended for working with watercolors, alcohol inks, ink, oil pastels or crayons. The density of these papers ranges from 150-390 g/m2.

Papiery Aura – bloki Aura
Są to bloczki papierów syntetycznych, wodoodpornych, plamoodpornych. Są niezwykle wytrzymałe, chętnie wykorzystywane w pracy z tuszami alkoholowymi. Dzięki temu, że posiadają niesamowicie gładką powierzchnię kolory pięknie się mieszają, dając ciekawe efekty, których nie można osiągnąć na tradycyjnych papierach. Występują w dwóch gramaturach – 170 g/m2 i 300 g/m2.

Aura papers - Aura blocks
These are blocks of synthetic, waterproof, stain-resistant paper. They are extremely durable, willingly used when working with alcohol inks. Thanks to the fact that they have an incredibly smooth surface, the colors mix beautifully, giving interesting effects that cannot be achieved on traditional papers. They come in two weights - 170 g/m2 and 300 g/m2.

Papier kraftowy
Posiada wysoką gramaturę (300 g/m2) dzięki czemu nadaje się idealnie jako baza kartki, pudełka czy karta albumu.

Craft paper
It has a high density(300 g/m2) making it ideal as a base for a card, box or album card
